Peter Warshall, an ecologist and bioanthropologist, often emphasized
that thinking about a river basin is a profoundly local sense of place.
For the characters in this play, the Kwisa is the river of their childhood —
a place where they fish for graylings, paddle kayaks, and, at times, dump debris along its banks. It inspires poetry and sees secret blue dye pour into its currents. To some, it offers comfort and a lullaby, to others, it brings fear,
and for some, it hardly crosses their minds. Eventually, the Kwisa flows
into the Bóbr River, and the Bóbr flows into…
.
Kwisa is a performative reading about belonging and a shared connection
with a place, shaped by the river’s path.
