Spectres, composed by Stanisław Moniuszko, is a lyrical musical work for solo voices, mixed choir, and orchestra, offering an evocative interpretation of Part II of Adam Mickiewicz's Forefathers' Eve. Paweł Passini directs this anti-war narrative, a striking commentary on social indifference, creating an intimate yet haunting atmosphere on stage.
.
Central to Spectres is the choir, which moves between gentle unison and dense, layered harmonies, interacting dynamically with soloists. The production heightens the sense of haunting, with increasing waves of ghostly figures — twisted beings on stilts, eyeless specters adorned with skeletal symbols — who roam not only the stage but among the audience, intensifying the chilling presence of the supernatural.
